We carry out the vast majority of surveys remotely so that we can focus our time on performing installations. To get the ball rolling, whether it’s for a simple installation or a complete fireplace re-design, we need plenty of information to build a picture of your current setup and work out the specifications for your installation. The more information, the better!
What we need – the basics
Property information
Address and postcode
Contact number
Directions with a Google maps link to your property, so we can review our access options. NB we have a tall and long van with ladders on the roof. If you think we might have access issues, e.g. low lying branches or narrow lane leading to your property, let us know.
Was your property built before or after 2008? This determines whether you will need a direct air vent.
Room and fireplace
Does your fireplace or the wall surrounding it contain plasterboard or any combustible materials?
Room dimensions – (length, width, height in cm)
Existing fireplace dimensions – (length, width, height in cm)

Photos
We need to see photos of both the inside and outside of the property as follows:
Inside:
We need to see the whole room, and the area(s) you have in mind for the location of the stove. If the flue passes between floors/lofts, we will need to see clear photos indicating where you think the flue will pass in each room/loft.
• The room as a whole
• The fireplace area (or where you would like one)
• Up the flue if you have one
• Any floors/lofts that a chimney will need to go through (twin wall installation)
Outside:
It’s all about working out the terminal height and access. We need to see the whole house, including the roof. Any indication of where you think the flue will come out of the wall or roof is helpful.
We tend to use a tower scaffold, so clearly showing the area to the side of the house is helpful to ascertain if the tower will fit.
• The house from outside showing where you think our ladders will go from the ground to the roof
• The roof
• The chimney stack/pots if you have one
The more detailed the information you can give us, the more efficiently we can provide you a detailed estimate and get started with your installation. You can provide the information via this form, which guides you through everything we need, or by sending us an email with all the information and plenty of photos!
