Once we have finished installing your new stove, we know you’ll want to start using it as soon as possible! Here’s some information to guide you through what happens following your installation;
Certificate of compliance and final invoice
Certificate of compliance and completion emails
We will complete and sign off your certificate of compliance through the HETAS online portal. It is effective immediately and a hard copy will be with you within 4 weeks. A completion email will be sent confirming this and offering further advice – most of which will have been covered on the handover of your new stove and installation.
Balance invoice
Along with our completion emails and HETAS certification, we’ll also send the balance invoice.
You will have already paid a deposit to cover the stove (& stove accessories) and half of the estimated installation cost. We always take a deposit to help cover materials once you have accepted our work, with the final invoice sent on completion.
If any issues or problems have had to be resolved during the process of the installation – that were not accounted for - these will have been discussed and any agreed adjustments reflected in your final invoice. Any other agreed additional charges will also be added. Information on extra charges can be found at the bottom of this page: (ADMIN NOTE – LINK TO “WHAT WE NEED TO CREATE AN ESTIMATE)
Quick payments are greatly appreciated as our cash flow is very dynamic during our busy periods!
Sweeps and services
Aftercare of your stove and flue is imperative to keep the system in safe and efficient working order, so we will also supply you with information on sweeping and servicing too. We have a discounted annual Three-year Service Agreement that we will invite you to join, to make it easy to keep on top of your servicing! Click here for more information.
What assurance do I have with your work?
Our techniques are tried and tested with time. All our stove installations are HETAS registered and our public liability insurance of £2 million is there as a safeguard. We take pride and care in our work and like to leave a property better than when we arrive.
Please check out our reviews on Google, Trustpilot or Facebook - I’m sure they will instil confidence in you.
Once installed, we have a comprehensive and value for money servicing package, since your stove and flue will require regular (annual) servicing.
For more information on this, please go to our Sweeping & Servicing page.
End of installation
On completion of each installation, we will test and then commission the stove. We will check the draw of the stove and flue, and make sure everything is working as it should be.
If there is an issue (we’ve had a mere 3 out of the hundreds of installations we have performed over a 10-year period), we’ll identify what has happened and how to resolve it. If amendments to the estimated costs are required, these will be discussed and a new plan made.
Invariably, we like to set our installations up to win so that we can avoid any unnecessary issues.
Before you use your stove
You will be given a demonstration as to how your stove works but without fuel as your stove and products will need to set before use.
We advise 24 hours is left between first use to allow the intumescent sealants, silicones, foam, and fire cement we may have used to set.
If we have rendered or skimmed anywhere, this should be left to set until it has completely dried before use of the stove and flue.
As part of the commissioning and demonstrating how your stove works, we will also explain what fuel you should be using and how to use this fuel effectively including starting a fire, refuelling a fire and putting your fire out. Everything is backed up in emails once we walk away so you don’t have to worry about remembering everything or taking notes!
If you have any questions, we’ll do our best to answer them too!
Clearing up
All rubble and wood will be removed, and your property will be left clean. For large amounts of rubble (e.g., remodelling a new fireplace), it is likely that it will be left in a dumpy bag(s) and a local haulage company with a Hiab will visit to collect it. The amount of rubble that comes out of a standard fireplace can easily fill up a 1 tonne dumpy bag!
If there any recyclable products we leave these in your recycling bags. General rubbish is placed in a black bin bag and left in your outside bin.
